A launchpad, not a listings site
How to use the guide.
This is a repeatable way to remember where to look. It points outward—to official calendars and careful discovery sources—without copying their listings.
Before a trip
Begin with seasonal resources, major events, sports schedules, and “must-check” priorities. Choose one anchor, then browse by neighborhood so the rest of the day feels coherent.
On the day
Use the Tonight / Tomorrow page for a short scan. Discovery sites are for finding possibilities; the organizer’s own page is where you confirm the truth.
Reading the labels
The only-in-New-York rating is a personal editorial signal, not a quality score. “Good with a 12-year-old” means the place is often worth considering with a curious older child; every individual event still needs its own age check.
Keeping it fresh
Each entry carries a stable ID, an active switch, a priority, and a last-reviewed date. Update the Google Sheet, use its custom “Publish Dashboard” menu, and Cloudflare rebuilds the static site. If Sheets is temporarily unreachable, the build uses the last reviewed fallback collection.
Editorial rule
Do not paste event listings into the sheet. Keep descriptions durable, useful, and brief. Link to the most official calendar available and periodically retire stale sources by switching them inactive.
